We worked with Eco-Star to replace the roof and siding on our home.  The attention to finish details was excellent.  We interviewed a few contractors before selecting Eco-Star and felt that they would provide us with the best service.  This was our first experience with a project of this size and relied on their expertise to guide us through the process. We were not disappointed.

The crew we had at our house was here every day and worked long hours in some pretty wicked typical DC Summer heat to get this project underway and completed.  We had a bit of a stall, when through no fault of Eco-Star, the supplier delivered defective siding material which was noticed immediately by the Eco-Star crew.  Work was stopped and John stepped in to resolve the issue for us.  While the project was delayed while we waited for redelivery of new materials, John kept us informed of the progress and once they were able to restart the project moved forward quickly and went smoothly.  Work was completed last week and we are very pleased with the finished result.

I really can’t say enough good things about our experience with EcoStar Remodeling. My husband and I spoke with 6 different companies and we were put through all the price games and phone calls to “Managers” for more discounts as long as we signed up immediately. We just did not feel that any of the companies we got estimates from were addressing our needs. They all seemed to push one window as the only window for everyone. They all seemed to have the same scripted sales pitch. Then we found EcoStar Remodeling through a co-worker’s recommendation. We were immediately impressed with John Hanrahan and his approach to our concerns. He talked to us about several different windows and their available options. He was unbiased and provided us with all the information we asked for and some that we never would have known to ask about since none of the other companies we spoke to were as forthcoming.
John never applied any sales pressure and when we ask for a couple of days to think it over, he encouraged us to do just that. I think we knew before he left our home that evening that this was the right company and the right person for the job. As it turn out, we were right on all counts.

We had EcoStar Remodeling install 28 Sunrise Windows for us. Everything went exactly as they described and everything was done right on schedule.  The windows are just beautiful. Some of the windows we looked at had very bulky frames or just had a cheap looking appearance. Not our Sunrise Windows.
EcoStar Remodeling was neither the least nor the most expensive dealer we spoke to but we feel they offered the best overall value. We love our new windows and we would highly recommend EcoStar Remodeling to any of our friends or neighbors. You will not be disappointed.

"Excellent. The owner himself came to do the estimate and was low pressage and easy to deal with. The man that came to do the followup was on time and didn't take any time at all to check the measurements. The crew chief arrived before the crew on the scheduled day and I was able to leave on time for work. When I came home for lunch the work was completed and everything was cleaned up. It was difficult to even tell they had been there other then I had new vinyl windows! The price was very competitive and was well under others. The windows are high quality and qualified for the energy tax rebate. Very happy with the experience"

"They removed and replaced all windows with double-paned, insulated Sunrise Windows. Replaced front steel door with a decorative woodlook Provia door and added a storm door. Also replaced deck sliding glass doors with Provia French doors with operable blinds inside glass panels.

I expected with replacing the windows and doors that I'd have to do a LOT of touchup to walls of the rooms, but the touchups I had to do were only because our previous windows leaked rain and those spots needed to be covered. Installers were prompt to arrive and begin work and extremely patient with all my questions throughout the whole process (I'm sure they thought some of my questions were "dumb" though they didn't show it). They were careful not to disturb plantings/landscape located under some of the first floor windows and did a thorough job of cleaning up during their installation. We're extremely happy with the replacements and have noticed a significant difference in the consistency of the indoor temperatures within each room ---- previously, we noticed that all our rooms were not the same temperature---some were cooler/hotter than others. We also noticed that we cannot hear outdoor commotion that occurs in our neighborhood (teens blaring their car radios, kids playing outside, dogs barking) which has eliminated a lot of daily annoyances. The new front door/storm door really made a big difference in the overall appearance and curb appeal of our home. Overall, the experience was a great one and I would recommend this company to anyone looking for windows and doors."

"We interviewed 5 prospective firms that would provide a complete exterior overhaul - siding, windows, gutters. Two we dismissed pretty quickly for being overly aggressive on our needing to "sign up right away." We had two main decision criteria for selecting a company for this major job - which firm(s) gave us confidence that they would install premium grade products well and which firm(s) were priced well. We rated EcoStar as an A on both accounts. My wife and I felt John Hanrahan would be attentive to our desire to have an excellent finished product and his quote was one of the more aggressive ones too.

John told us that we'd love working with his supervisor Tim Collins, and that pre-work praise was evident by Tim's attention to our project. The windows were done first, then the siding and lastly the gutters. We were quite pleased that the work crews all arrived on-time, worked diligently (in some pretty cold weather) and wrapped the windows expertly, as promised. Tim suggested we use an off-white color for the trim molding, advice that made the final product look great. Tim then helped us select a Williamsburg Gray color for the cement board siding, also proving to be an excellent decision on materials and color choice. They basically treated the job as if working on their own home, which is what you really want from a contractor, regardless of the work being performed."

"We had 65 replacement windows, 2 sets of French doors, and 3 skylights installed by EcoStar Remodeling. John Hanrahan, the owner of EcoStar Remodeling, first came out to our home in November 2010 and provided his recommendations of Sunrise windows and Provia French doors. We also had crank case windows in our master bath and kitchen for which we went with Simonton windows. John was very professional and knowledgeable as he described the features and benefits of the windows and doors. He was very friendly and never applied any pressure to make the sale. We really enjoyed his presentation and felt really confident with what he was telling us. The windows and doors were installed between December 2010 and February 2011. The only glitch was that a few of the windows and one of the doors were not what had been ordered. Reordering them and some nasty weather caused a little delay in job completion. John however, kept us well abreast with what was going on and did his best to get the job completed as soon as possible. John's crew was very professional and courteous, and performed at a very high level. They had to remove all our existing windows including the g-8 aluminum protective foil that was wrapped around the outside wood frames of the windows and doors. John had new g-8 aluminum foil installed along with the new windows and doors. We originally had 3 plastic skylights and John replaced them with high quality energy efficient glass skylights.

My wife and I decided to go with EcoStar Remodeling, as we were very impressed with the owner, John Hanrahan. Besides being extremely knowledgeable, John was very personable and seemed to be very honest and trustworthy. Our initial impressions of him were proven justified, as the quality of the work performed by his crew was excellent. Our new windows and Provia french doors are beautiful and so much more energy efficient than the builders grade that was replaced. Our home became so much more comfortable without the excessive drafts that were prevalent prior to the replacement. The 3 skylights are so much nicer and better quality than what we originally had. In addition, we had received numerous proposals from other contractors, and found EcoStar's price to be very reasonable. I strongly recommend EcoStar Remodeling, you will not be disappointed."
